Set on more than five acres of land, the diverse areas maintained within the Tucson Botanical Gardens show a variety of plants that are native to or able to survive in the harsh desert climate of the region. Looking to the past, historical garden areas include traditional plants grown in the early 1900s, the Native American Crops Garden and the Plants of the Tohono O'odham Path. Beyond these areas, there are more than a dozen other gardens, including a Xeriscape Demonstration Garden and a Cactus and Succulent Garden. Positioned in northeastern Tucson, the gardens are about two miles north of El Con Mall.
