The ambience is very nice. Lighting is low, decor is fancy and staff is friendly and attentive. The food is simply spectacular. The fish tacos are delicious, made with salmon the night we went. It was very filling, hard to finish. We tried the tiger shrimp pasta which was incredibly tasty. The pasta was fresh, the artichoke hearts and roasted peppers blended nicely as a backdrop for the unexpectedly sweet, perfectly-cooked shrimp. We also tried the ribeye special with mushroom sauce. It was tender like butter, and the grilled flavor was superb. We tried three of the desserts, all of which were excellent. The creme brulee was delicious. The berries with creme anglaise was dreamy. The kahlua truffles were an explosion on the tastebuds. We needed a few minutes to fully enjoy the many intense flavors, and then to recover from them.

I have been very impressed with Barrio. The restaurant itself has a very comfortable atmosphere, is well-lit and decorated, and has an acceptable level of background noise. Waitstaff are fast, friendly, courteous, and have excellent attention to detail. Bartenders are very pleasant, skilled and efficient. The food has been excellent both in terms of quality and presentation. My only complaint is the price range of most entrees, which is a bit steep.

I think Ive discovered the most excellent burger in Tucson thus far. It was affordable too. The patty was blended with chopped jalapeno, just the right amount. I had mine cooked medium and it was juicy and tasty with just the right degree of kick. Luckily I was with my friend who doesnt indulge in anything spicy so I could have this burger all to myself. The spicy curly fries that come with it are tasty as well and I did my usual fries dipped in mayo routine. Im sure that just makes everyone want to eat next to me. The entire experience was nice at Barrio Food and Drink as it seems to be called now. The service was excellent and the ambience was great, cozy and rustic in a good way, if that makes any sense. Dont forget to try the burger.
